Nightlife

Stockholm never sleeps, and the entertainment found in this city is amazing. There are plenty of night clubs that stay open until 5 am. The city center is teeming with restaurants, bars and pubs—especially in the area around Stureplan.

Bars If you prefer exploring areas not entirely swamped by crowds, you will find a bar-hopping visit to Södermalm rewarding.

Start at MOSEBACKE ETABLISSEMENT (Mosebacke Torg 3, PHONE: 08/6419020), a combined indoor theater and outdoor café with a spectacular view of the city.

The Stureplan's O-BAR (Stureplan 2, PHONE: 08/4405730) is where the downtown crowd gathers for late-night drinks and music ranging from country to hard rock.
If you'd rather be seen dining or dancing to half a century of pop hits amidst Stockholm's well-heeled types, head to RICHE (Birger Jarlsg. 4, PHONE: 08/6117022).

Wander along Götagatan with its lively bars and head for SNAPS/RANGUS TANGUS (Medborgarplatsen, PHONE: 08/6402868), an eatery and cellar bar with live music in a 300-year-old building.

A trendy 20-something crowd props up the long bar at WC (Skåneg. 51, PHONE: 08/7022963), with ladies' drink specials.

Stockholm can also appease your need for pub-style intimacy. Guinness, ale, and cider enthusiasts rally in the tartan-clad BAGPIPER'S INN (Rorstrandsg. 21, PHONE: 08/311855), where you can get a full range of bar food.

DUBLINER (Smålandsg. 8, PHONE: 08/6797707) serves up pub food and hosts live folk music on stage.

As green as a four-leaf clover, LIMERICK (Tegnorg. 10, PHONE: 08/6734398) is another popular Hibernian watering hole.

The very British TUDOR ARMS (Grevg. 31, PHONE: 08/6602712) is just as popular as when it opened in 1969.

Piano Bars

Piano bars are part of Stockholm's nightlife.
The ANGLAIS BAR at the Hotel Anglais (Humlegårdsg. 23, PHONE: 08/6141600) is recommended on weekends.
Also try the CLIPPER CLUB at the Hotel Reisen (Skeppsbron 1214, PHONE: 08/223260).
BERNS' SALONGER (Berzelli Park 9, PHONE: 08/6140500), an elegant restaurant and bar in a renovated period building, turns into a lively disco at night; its large balcony faces the Royal Dramatic Theater.
CAFE OPERA (Operahuset, PHONE: 08/4110026), at the waterfront end of Kungstragården, is a popular meeting place for young and old alike. It has the longest bar in town, plus dining and roulette, and dancing after midnight; the kitchen offers a night menu until 2:30 AM.
DAILY'S BAR (Kungstradgården, PHONE: 08/215655), a glitzy disco at the other end of Kungsträdgården, near Sweden House, has a restaurant and is open until 3 AM.
KING CREOLE (Kungsg. 18, PHONE: 08/244700) offers big-band dance music alternating with rock.
MALARSALEN (Torkel Knutssonsg. 2, PHONE: 08/6581300) caters to the nondrinking jitterbug and fox-trot crowd in Sodermalm.
PENNY LANE (Birger Jarlsg. 29, PHONE: 08/201411) is a soft-disco nightclub specifically for a 30- and 40-something crowd.
STURE COMPAGNIET (Stureg. 4, PHONE: 08/6117800) is a complex of bars, food service, and dance areas on three levels inside the Sture Gallerian shopping mall.

Music Clubs

Jazz
The best and most popular jazz venue is FASCHING (Kungsg. 63, PHONE: 08/216267), where international and local bands play year-round.
Relatively new to the jazz scene is the lobby bar at the LYDMAR HOTEL (Stureg. 10, PHONE: 08/223160), where live jazz can be enjoyed on weekends and some weekdays.
The classic club NALENS (Regeringsg. 74 PHONE: 08/4533434) is back on the scene with major performances throughout the year.
STAMPEN (Stora Nyg. 5, PHONE: 08/205793) is an overpriced, but atmospheric, club in Gamla Stan with traditional jazz nightly. Get there early for a seat.

Rock Clubs
LIDO (Hornsg. 92, subway to Zinkensdamm; PHONE: 08/6682333) is on Södermalm. Call ahead for reservations.
KROGEN TRE BACKAR (Tegnérg. 1214, PHONE: 08/6734400) can be found just off Sveavgen.
